We found the Roadrunners’ nest on March 29th and have known the eggs had hatched for a couple of weeks, but the chicks have been too small to photograph until now. In the cactus along the driveway, I caught the pair off the nest this morning.

Hi John….Regards…and Happy Spring from Washington, DC and Southern Maryland…on the Chesapeake Bay and the Patuxent River. Gorgeous time of year here!! Will try to send CHERRY BLOSSOM PIx soon. They have a very short life and don’t hang around very long if there is any wind or spring rain. Wishing you and your family a great summer and hoping to see folks in Elko next January. Bev

I’ve seen a lot of roadrunners, but never baby ones! I’m glad they escaped the threat of the snake, and got caught by your camera!

They seem to like nesting around the house, two or three pairs, for the past several years. Like you, we’ve never seen babies. The parents seem to tolerate our gawking, but taking time to catch everything just right for a photo is difficult with so much spring cattle work to do. Cheers!
