At the Fall Banquet of the Tulare County Cattlemen’s Association last night, our dear neighbor Jody Fuller (2nd from the right) was awarded Cattleman of the Year. Usually a poorly kept secret, she was totally surprised. In an insightful and humorous presentation, Craig Ainley (far right) highlighted Jody’s history and accomplishments on Dry Creek. In addition to a beautiful belt buckle, she received commendations from County Supervisor Mike Ennis and Clarissa Henderson (far left), representing Congressman Devin Nunes.
Our “Thank You” for a wonderful dinner and evening provided by all the usual suspects, both in front and behind the scenes.
Nice to see a woman get that award. “Cattleperson”?

Congratulations to Jody, but don’t you risk all sorts of retribution by having a “Cattleman” award these days and especially in California? Surely it should be “Cattleperson!?” 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend, John.

Like ‘cowboy’, think of it as a verb.

But there are cowgirls, although these days cowwomen might be considered better even though sounding weird. 🙂 Just having some fun this morning.

But when using “cowboy” as a verb is is usually not in a complementary way.
Harassing, rough or crude.
Such as; cowboyin’ around, he cowboyed that horse, etc.”
I had heard somewhere that the “Cowbelles” were thinking of changing their name to “Cattlewomen”. Don’t know if that ever happened. We are so hung up on gender and political correctness. But if we pay no attention then people like “Harvey” take advantage.

The ‘Cowbelles’ have become ‘Cattlewomen’. JoWayne Lyons was Cattlewoman of the Year. You see the confusion goes on and on. But the remarkable part is that a woman got Cattleman of the Year. All very nice and well-deserved.
