serving granddad’s pump
in the river,
serving cross-arms,
serving Osprey
nests of sticks
shorting-out
and burning-up
into a hard rain
of spring, 2010.
Platforms now above
the wires, they watch
from a distance
of distrust.

Incredible birds, and extraordinary fishermen I might add. Where I fish on the Columbia I watch the ospreys dive for fish and then the bald eagles dive for the ospreys! Nature is such a wonder . . .

A definite order of things that can be quite entertaining. The Osprey is fairly rare around here, and a welcome addition to our eagles and hawks.
