Mother Nature Runs the Show

This time of year can be exciting as the calves come, but it also comes with feeding tons of hay while we wait for rain. Fortunately we have a couple of young men for the heavy lifting. The calves in the photo above are 6 weeks old and younger, becoming more independent, and learning to eat a little alfalfa. Typically it’s cold when the rains come in late October and November, and the new grass doesn’t grow much. Subsequently we have to keep feeding for a while. Every year the weather is a little different, so we all have to adapt. Like always, Mother Nature runs the show.
