Show starts at two
across the road
with wind and rain—
girls shedding
enflamed leaves
in a slow strip tease
of fire exposing
long white limbs
in a chorus line
of dancing nymphs
along the creek
all ready to go
skinny-dipping
come hell
or high water.
Oh, those girls . . .

I’ll never think of Autumn any other way but sexy. You have upset my decorum. Very neat metaphor.

Thanks. It’s good for our decorum, yours and mine, to be upset, to reassess what may be possible and appropriate. I have lived through so many fiery falls and naked winters across the road from my dancing nymphs that it is natural to anthropomorphize, to personify them—every dance a little different depending on cold, wind and rain… and me.
