Three Lions

Our friend and neighbor Chuck Fry had just placed his new trail cam up on the Paregien Ranch the day before this shot, (October 8th, so ignore the time and date that he hasn’t brought up to speed). We were surprised and shocked to see three lions, who judging from the location and their direction, had just passed through our cows and calves around the water tough in the daylight. It makes us nervous, nevertheless–a wonder we have any calves at all.

  1. Wow John I’m envious! I’ve only seen three mountain lions in my entire life yet here you’ve got that many in a single frame !

  2. They are an ever-present danger to you and your livestock! The enviros believe they are endangered but we know how rapidly those litters can multiply! In the days of the Rockin’I we had the means to keep the predations down but it’s a different world now. Stay safe!

  3. That would make me nervous for my calves as well. A friend in Wyoming once said a mountain lion paralleled him while out for a ride in the mountains (horseback.) Not very comfortable either. I haven’t seen one there, but we did hear one while on a ride a few years ago and it was unworldly.
