From the embrace of shade,
shelter from the elements,
we watch the world.

  1. This makes me think of my childhood home in Nebraska. A farm girl, from way back. Your poetry is rich. Thank you for sharing it. ~Audrey

    • Drawn to the 150+ year-old oak tree as if it were still standing, I tried to capture the look on the heifer’s face looking through the limbs that blew down last August. Abandoned Temple Grandin’s thesis about cattle finding comfort and security from confinement rings here for me, as well. The difference between cattle and humans, not all that much. Thanks for your comment!

  2. It’s beauty is still apparent, even as it returns to the earth to replenish it. The mighty oak never ceases to provide for others.
