Each branding at the Paregien Ranch always seems unique. In years past, we’ve been snowed on, rained on, and in fog so thick we could barely see across the pen, each documented in the archives of this blog. This year, it was dust due to our current drought. The board pens, giving way years ago and now augmented with panels, also have two oak trees in the middle of them that require more than average skills handling and roping calves. All went well in the dust and we trust that our neighbors and our calves don’t get sick.

Wonderful photos, and enough to really give a sense of the day.

Sure wish Dry Creek wasn’t dry, though!

    • Me too, Laurie, but believe it or not, it’s working its way down the canyon now that the trees having quit taking water, a few feet each day. With the last two years dry as well, I’m not sure where the water is coming from, but we’re waiting to see who gets here first, the creek or the rain.

    • Thanks so much and pleased that something resonates for you, as it does us. Likewise, your accidental art blog from Down Under intrigues me, connecting inexplicably to a hands-on lifestyle of vivid color and texture. Truly appreciate your comment.
