Cows thin, dry as hell, but everyone roped well. It seemed like such an easy day among good neighbors and friends.

    My daughter says you were on NPR re: water problems; I hope to catch it. Water to farmers is more valuable than oil; I recall that our humble truck farm’s water bill determined whether the family was in the red or black that year. Therefore, we were very frugal with water, way back then-my dad allowed only himself to irrigate the fields. To this day, I use “brown” water to water my garden (washing veggies/rice in the outside sink), save the first “cold water” that comes from the hot water spigot to water plants, hand laundry etc etc. Evelynne//
