On the way to water, she’s learned
to like mustard seed in August,
lives up the dry creek bed alone.

      No, I don’t know what the deal is. We’ve had a solitary hen for a couple of years now watering in the same place away from the other bunches of hens and babies, now half-grown. We’ve seen three or four toms during breeding season. Trying to help them get established, no hunting allowed. Just anti-social, I guess. She’s pretty tame.
