‘Top of the Morning’

Down from the City (SF), my son and I take coffee outside early Easter morning. First light is blinding as it breaks over the Sierra foothills to highlight this Blue Heron’s back as he poses and seems to be grawking, “Top of the morning” to us.

  1. How splendid to see one of your great blues! So glad you posted this one.

    • Thanks, Babsje. A spiritual moment, this Live Oak skeleton atop the Native women’s healing place, to be greeted by one of our totems on Easter morning. We were disappointed when the old tree that had shaded gossip rocks for generations died, and we discussed cording it up for firewood to clear our view. Now we think it offers even more than a roosting spot and cache for acorns.

      • John, apologies, I just now found your reply. I’m glad you didn’t cord up that tree for firewood, as you say, she is still giving back in a spiritual way. Trees are magnificent beings, if only we listen to them.
